This hand printed card features a Scarlet Ibis bird portrait. I visited the Caroni swamp when I lived in Trinidad as a child. Every evening these bright red birds flock to the mangrove trees and turn them from green to red.
This card is smooth, white and recycled and printed using a hand carved Japanese wood block in a deep pink ombre colour. Even though these are cards, they look beautiful framed too.
The card when folded in half is 12.5 cm by 17.8 cm and the image fills the card.
As each card is hand printed there are variations in the colour intensity, darkness and depth of each print. This is what makes each piece unique and is a feature of hand printed art.
